The Mercado de San Telmo, finished in 1897, was designed by Italian-born Juan Antonio Buschiazzo, the same architect who designed the Recoleta Cemetery. The building itself is a beautiful one to explore when you have some extra time to wander the aisles. In the San Telmo Market you can shop for wonderfully fresh produce, meat and cheese. Several eateries offer up ready made lunches for those looking a bite and endless stalls of interesting antiques will keep a shopper busy for hours.
