Inspired by the New Seven Wonders Project (which, by the way, now includes both Iguazu Falls and the Amazon Rainforest), we’ve put together our own Seven Wonders of South America. It was hard going! Now we see why the Seven Wonders Project took four years (!) to finalize theirs.
Perched amongst mighty Andean peaks, the grandiose views of this ancient architectural wonder are unmatched anywhere else on the planet, let alone in South America. Ok, this one was easy!
With nature all around, stunning views at every turn and a population ready to stop everything and samba, few cities are more seductive than Rio de Janeiro.
The Perito Moreno Glacier is simply astounding. One of the few advancing glaciers on the planet, it spills over the Andes Mountains into Lake Argentino in all its sparkling, icy glory.
Thousands of kilometers of ancient, oxygen-giving rainforest providing life and shelter for countless species of animals, plants and birds – what could be moreawe-inspiring than the Amazon?
In Chilean Patagonia, on the very edge of the world, the Torres del Paine National Park is a timeless wilderness of lakes, mountains and mile upon mile of nature at its purest.
Crashing through the jungle between Brazil and Argentina the immense scale of Iguazu Falls means that it has more than enough wonder to share between South America’s two biggest countries.
