♦ Esteros del Ibera Wildlife
The Ibera wetlands are the second largest freshwater wetland in the world after neighboring Brazil’s Pantanal wetlands. Home to over 350 different bird species and some of South America’s most iconic wildlife, Esteros del Ibera is also Argentina’s largest protected area. Despite the diversity of wildlife and this area made up of a series of lakes, lagoons and marshland; this wildlife sanctuary has remained off many travelers’ radars. That is to say until our Esteros del Ibera tour was included in National Geographic Travel’s World Best Trips for 2015. As wildlife projects in the region help to reintroduce the likes of jaguars and giant anteaters to the wild, this area is growing in importance as it works towards bringing these beautiful species back to their former glory.

♦ Sunrise & Sunset at Machu Picchu
Seeing the sunrise and sunset at Machu Picchu is somewhat of a slight myth as the citadel is not open during the actual sunrise and sunset. However, being at this world wonder just after sunrise and before sunset is certainly an unforgettable experience. The citadel of Machu Picchu at sunrise is generally covered in a heavy mist, but witnessing the mist lift off to reveal this hidden wonder is in fact the real spectacle. Once the mist has moved tantalizingly on to fully reveal Machu Picchu in all its glory, it is then that the sun hits the Inca ruins, adding a whole new experience and perspective. From sunrise to sunset, the atmosphere and magic of Machu Picchu is constantly changing as the different areas of the Inca site light up and are given their time in the spotlight.

♦ Rio de Janeiro Carnival
Although Carnival is celebrated in towns and villages throughout Brazil, Rio de Janeiro has for a long time been regarded as the Carnival capital of the world. Rio’s Carnival is the largest in the world with millions of travelers ascending onto Rio for this vibrant annual event. The Rio Carnival is not only great entertainment but it also provides a unique insight into the true Brazilian culture and represents the vibrant and colorful way of life in Rio de Janeiro. Aside from the Carnival spirit and samba music which will be heard throughout the streets of Rio, the main spectacle takes place in Rio’s Sambadrome. It is here that the different floats pass by, and the famous dancers and official samba parade takes place in front of more than 75,000 spectators.
